Reaper BONES 6 Kickstarter is Live!!

The Reaper BONES 6 Kickstarter went live today. So far, I'm in for the Core Set amount.  The reality is that I have almost all of Bones 5, and most of Bones 4, still unpainted, so my intent is to go easy on this one.  Fingers crossed I pass all my Will roles. :)

Reaper "Bones 5" Kickstarter in its Final Days!

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that Reaper Miniatures' Bones 5 Kickstarter is in it's final few days, and will be ending this Saturday the 2nd!
There's been a lot of great stuff unlocked and still more to come.
The big highlight of this project so far has been the almost yard-long Pirate Ship that Reaper will be doing.   The plan is to have it come apart at the deck levels so you will have several decks worth of playable surface.
One of the expansions I'm most excited for is this Dark Depths one.  Lots of cool critters in it, and some great fodder for making units, which as primarily a wargamer, I'm always looking for.

You can check these figures and a lot more out at the Kickstarter main page: Bones 5: Pizza Dungeon!

The Reaper Bones 4 Kickstarter is Here!

Well, I'm happy to announce that this past week my box from the Reaper Bones 4 Kickstarter arrived; 22.7 pounds of plastic goodness!  I've spent the last few days going through it all.
Official box inspectors check out the shipment to make sure it is satisfactory! :-D
In the end, this is what I had ordered:

1) Core Set
2) Dreadmere Expansion Set
3) Darkreach Expansion Set
4) Lost Valley Expansion Set
5) Fan Favorites Expansion Set
6) Dragon Turtle Add-On
7) Tree of Despair Add-On
8) Frost Giant Raiders Add-On
9) Mossbeard Add-On
10) Stygian Barge Add-On
11) Skeletal DragonAdd-On
12) Trolls Add-On
13) Extra Snakemen
14) Extra Ape Attack
15) Extra Ghost Pirates

Upon opening. What magic awaits?!
This Kickstarter ended up being produced in a a mix of regular Bones (which is now tinted grey-ish) and Reaper's new Bones Black material (which is a slightly darker grey).    These are the Bones Black sets and add-ons:

Sets:
Chronoscope Expansion
Lost Valley Expansion
Dreadmere Expansion
Darkreach Expansion
Fan Favorites Expansion

Add-On:
Trolls
Living Statues Amazons
Living Statues Spartans
Tree of Despair
Baba Yaga’s Hut
Lord of the Jungle
King Cobra
Frost Giant Raiders

All the packages spread out.
Below is a sampling of a random mix of figures.

Frost Giant Raiders

Dragon Turtle.  It's huge!

Mossbeard.  Another huge model.

From the Lost Valley Expansion; the Tribal Hut and Warchief Mumlak.  The Hut I thought was smaller than expected, while the Warchief is about 50% taller than expected.

The Stygian Barge Add-On is a monster of a model!   I look forward to working on this though I think I'm going to try and de-necro it to make it look more like just an old barge.

The Herbalist from the Dreadmere Expansion.  Bones have come a long way since the first Kickstarter, and the Bones Black material is amazing. Look a the detail; she has eyelids and brows!  (Plus two adorable wee hedgehogs assisting her...)

Amazing detail on the Dark Elf Queen from the Darkreach Expansion.

Perhaps my favorite figure; the Pack Turtle from Dreadmere.

A comparison shot of the materials.  The First figure is Original Bones, the second is New Bones from Bones 4, and the third is Bones Black from Bones 4.

As I offered before, if there is any particular model you would like to see, let me know in the comments and I'll try to get it added it to this entry.

Reader Requests:
Dreadmere 413 & 420

Darkreach Deep Gnomes

Fan Favorites Isobael the Bard & Friend.

Reaper's BONES IV Kickstarter Announced!

For those that may have missed it, Reaper announced their new Bones Kickstaeter will be starting next month.  Exact date is yet to be released.
Also it looks like this year they will be doing an RPG quest map theme for the stretch goal journey.
Just like with Bones 3, going into it I feel I'll probably just pick and choose a few things, as I'm quite overwhelmed with Bones minis at the moment. :)  However, when the rubber hits the road I have a feeling I'll fail my will roll quickly, and be going in for the full Core Set.

Tablescapes Dungeons' Mine Themed Kickstarter

I just wanted to let folks know about a neat Kickstarter that I just backed: Tablescapes Dungeons Mines brought to you by Secret Weapon and Reaper.  What I like about this Kickstarter is the nifty mine track and cart Add-On.  Also, it is all compatible with my Dwarven Forge stuff.
Currently the Core Sets gets you 76 components for $75.
They are also offering a number of sets of Bones Minis for those who missed out on any of the Reaper Bones Kickstarters, as well as a selection of sets of Reaper paint!

You can find more info here: Tablescapes Dungeons Mines.  Please check it out, and if possible, pledge! :)

"All Bones About It" Blog Hits 100K Views!

I'm happy to announce that today this blog hit its 100,000 view!  I was lucky enough to check in this morning at 99,999 and was able to refresh once to see it roll over to the big 100K.
This June will mark the 3-year anniversary of this blog; started after receiving my Bones I Kickstarter from Reaper Miniatures.   I had hoped this blog would help keep me on task in my goal of painting all 266 figures I had received; because I knew if I didn't set a goal, that most of the figures would probably still be languishing in the box they shipped in.   I'm proud of the fact that I have been able to stick with it these three years, and am happy so many folks have supported me along the way.
Next Monday, I will be posting my 216th figure, which will put me just 50 figures away from reaching my goal.  Thank you all so much for supporting my efforts along the way, and be sure to stick around for the last stretch; it's all downhill from here!

Quick SIze Comparison: Forstgrave Soldiers vs Reaper

Over on the Reaper Forum there was question regarding how the size of Frostgrave-specific figures stacked up against Reaper figures.  So I took a quick photo to show:
L to R: Frostgrave plastic soldier, Reaper Bones figure, Frostgrave plastic soldier, Reaper Bones figure, Frostgrave metal Rangifer.
As can be seen, the Frostgrave stuff is a little smaller.  Note, that not only have I glued the Frostgrave soldiers to a washer, like I did with the Reaper ones; but I also glued them to the 1" plastic bases that come with them to add a little more height.

Reaper CAV Bones Kickstarter Boxes Arrive

I'm happy to report that my shipments from Reaper's CAV: Strike Operations Kickstarter arrived this week!   I happily spent that night sorting through all my goodies. :)
I didn't go in for a lot of the big stompy robots, as I was more interested in getting a bunch of the well-priced 10mm tanks and other vehicles for a set of Sci_Fi rules we will be working on based on our popular "Look, Sarge, No Charts" system.
So, you can expect to see the occasional tank or two, as well as a couple of the big stompy robots,  to show up here; since they are made from the Bones material, so fall under the jurisdiction of this blog. :).

Reaper "Bones 3" Kickstarter: Only 3 Days to Go!

I just wanted to let folks know that the Reaper Bones 3 Kickstarter has just over 3 more days to go.  It's a great opportunity to get a lot of minis for a really reasonable price.  The Core Set has well over 100 minis, and there are a lot of great add-on sets as well.   If you haven't done so already check it out: Bones 3 Kickstarter

Yes, I'm In: A Bones III Confession

Just wanted to let you all know that I caved, and went in on the Bones III Core Set. :-)  I was planning to just go in for a dollar to pick and choose, but the inclusion of all the Lizardmen (I'm a sucker for Lizardmen; see my other blog for posts on the 10mm Lizardman Army I'm currently building), and the inclusion of the Yeti (Chill Out) stretch goal (which will go great with my winter-themed fantasy side-project) helped convince me to go in for the whole set.
I haven't been swayed by any of the buy-in add on sets yet though, but time will tell...
Here is a link to the Bones III Kickstarter
So who else has succumbed to the madness?? :-)

Happy Day! My Bones II Box Arrived!

Just wanted to let you all know that my Bones II box arrived this past Tuesday. Perhaps the closest an adult can get to that childhood Christmas-morning feeling. :)
All components were present and accounted for:
Expansion Set 1 x1
Dragons Don't Share x1
Mashaaf, Great Old One x1
Water Elementals x1
2013 Core Set x1
I must say that the packaging this year was very impressive, and a step up from last year's million little bags.   And, I think the "Dragons Don't Share" box is really beautifully designed. The "Thank You" note from all the Reaper employees was a nice touch too.
The big reveal as the box s opened.
So, my plan for these is to work on them in a much more casual manner than I have been doing with the Bones I figures.   I am probably going to sort through these and not keep every single one like I did with Bones I. (Granted I did trade one of the Bones I figures to a friend. So not technically "every single one", but you get my point.)   I may try to post Bones II figures on the occasional Thursday, and still plug away at my usual Monday Bones I postings.
Everything laid out.
