New Reaper BONES CAV Kickstarter

I just wanted to let everyone know that Reaper is currently running another Bones Kickstarter, called "Reaper Miniatures CAV: Strike Operations".  It is designed to convert much of their Sci-Fi CAV (Combat Assault Vehicle)12mm (N Scale) line into BONES material.  The figures are mainly big stompy robot types, with (hopefully) a smattering of more conventional ground vehicles thrown in too.

  1. Although I started playing BSR games recently, this kickstarter leaves me cold (not enough diversity, relative high cost for oversee). I will probalby however buy some and some vehicules when they come out at a game store near me.

    1. I'm not big into big stompy robots, but I really am interested in the ground vehicles. I haven't bought in yet, but if they reach some of the stretch goals that have the vehicles, I'll throw some money at this KIckstarter.

  2. I haven't played BattleTech in ages, but the one thing I remember was how long a game could take when it was more than just a one-v-one Mech fight. CAV:SO is supposed to play faster, which I hope will make it easier to convince my gaming group to try it.

I agree with Jici in that the diversity seems odd, but CAVBOSS (the fellow heading up the KS) said that they wanted to get a couple of factions fairly well covered so players would have some variety of choices. Personally I'm hoping for more Ritterlich units before all is done, but we'll see. And at this price, they're hard to pass up.

    1. Yes, it's a hard deal to pass up for such a good price. I'm really amazed that there's just 1300+ people in the whole world who are interested. I'd have assumed it would have been much more than that...as you certainly can use them for many other things than just CAV. Maybe everyone's waiting for the last minute. I at least hope they make the next stretch goal, as I'd really like those APCs.

  3. I think that the fact that shipping is pretty expensive for non-US buyer reduces the interest for the kickstarter. BSR are big oversea....they are missing on this market.

    1. Yes, I think overall this one was mishandled. Maybe Talon Games was behind it more than Reaper. I don't see how Reaper could have made so many missteps after two such successful Bones before this.
